As Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School celebrates its 75th anniversary, there is excitement as the 2024-2025 school year brings new students, administration, programs and an additional wing to the school.
Amidst all these changes, the mission of a Catholic, college-preparatory education with Christ at its center stands as the driving force.
We welcome a well-rounded freshman class that represents all the Catholic feeder schools and a diverse array of schools from the metro area. As enrollment remains strong, the addition of five new classrooms and a second lecture hall continues our pursuit of quality teaching by allowing us the space to maintain our consistent student-to-teacher ratio. Where appropriate, we offer college-style classes in our two lecture halls to prepare students for life after high school.
All children are made in the image of God. This year we are excited to launch the Rother Program so that we can serve all children in our community, even those with extensive support needs.
In the past, we did not have either the faculty with the required skills in special education or an academic plan in place for these students. However, this year we are excited to launch a non-diploma track to educate students with intellectual disabilities to prepare for transitional programs offered by universities nationwide.
In addition, the move to a President-Principal model is also a new development. The principal’s task of the everyday running of the school building has been separated from the overall governance of the institution embodied in the role of the president. As Father Rick Stansberry begins his tenure as president, the school will be led by a priest who has lived Catholic education the last 30 years, driving the mission of the school to answer the call to be “a person for others.”
Thus, this 75th year is one of great excitement for Bishop McGuinness. As an archdiocesan high school, we welcome students from across the metro who are seeking a faith-filled, academically rigorous curriculum with ample opportunity for participation in athletics and extracurricular activities.
Our Christ-centered education focuses not only on the spiritual growth of our students, but their emotional, social and physical health as well, helping them form a Christ-centered compass for life.
