Mariology & Movements The Office of Multicultural Outreach & Hispanic Ministry has been busy this summer! On Saturday, June 21, Fr. Ernesto Maria Caro presented a two-day formation workshop in Spanish on Mariology (the study of doctrines concerning the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus). Some of the topics he covered were "The Virgin Mary as Woman and Wife," "Mary's Relationship with God and Men," and "The Model of Man's Future Life."
Fr. Caro is a priest for the Archdiocese of Monterrey, where he serves as exorcist and pastor of Nuestra Señora Reina de los Angeles parish. Fr. Caro was previously a speaker at the 2024 Discipleship Conference, and it was a delight to welcome him back to our archdiocese. With joy and gratitude, another year of training concluded. The participating couples received their well-deserved recognition, grateful for all the blessings they had received, not only in their married life, but also in the hearts of their entire families, thanks to the guidance and accompaniment of this movement.

After hosting the successful Art of Dating event series on the archdiocesan level in 2023 and 2024, the Office of Marriage & Family Life, in collaboration with Young Adult Ministry, has begun offering "Art of Dating for the Parish." This one-day event combines prayer, adoration, and formation with social opportunities for participants to get to know other young adults from their parish and/or surrounding parishes.
The first Art of Dating for the Parish was hosted by Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Chickasha on Saturday, July 12. Rae Biesiada gave a talk on Theology of the Body and Karina Escobar led group discussion on the fears and expectations that can arise when dating. Lastly, Fr. Wheelan, pastor at Holy Name, gave a talk on discernment in preparation for a time of adoration and guided prayer.
Reflecting on the day, Karina Escobar said, "[The participants] got to tell God about their desires and silence their heart to hear what God may be asking or desiring for them. Overall, it was beautiful event, and I think we all learned a lot!"
If you are interested in hosting an Art of Dating at the Parish event at your parish, contact Rae Biesiada,[email protected]; (405) 248-2030 or Kendra Mann,[email protected]; (405) 709-2895. "Spill the Tea" Mother-Daughter Event

Farewell to our Summer Interns!
The end of summer means that we said farewell to our wonderful summer interns here at the archdiocese. In the Department of Evangelization and Discipleship, we were joined by Alex Armstrong, Araceli Mingura, Mary Claire Thomas, and Natalia Cassata.
Over the course of their eight weeks with us, each intern worked with their respective offices (Hispanic Ministry, Altum Institute, Children and Youth Ministry, and Marriage & Family Life) on an individual project to support the department's programs and activities, as well as collaborated on a group project to host a Marian procession and fiesta at the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine on Saturday, July 26.
The interns planned and executed a Marian procession from Tepeyac Hill to the shrine church for 5 p.m. vigil Mass, as well as food, drinks, games, and Guatemalan dancers. An estimated 350+ people attended the event. Several of the Hispanic Movement groups assisted with the procession, and Araceli's mother and father made aguas frescas for the crowd. "I've loved interning here this summer, because there is so much dedication to serving God's people with love. Everyone works together and devotes each day to living out His mission. It is inspiring and encouraging for someone who is about to work for the Church!" - Natalia Cassata"This summer working for the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City was life-changing in many ways, specifically how my studies in theology can be applied in a more concrete way. I learned so much that it is not easy to put into words how much this summer has changed and formed my heart, mind, and soul but I am eternally grateful for every opportunity." - Mary Claire Thomas 2025 Discipleship Conference Our third Discipleship Conference was a great success at the Oklahoma City Convention Center on Saturday, Aug. 9! At the conclusion of the event, we announced that we will be moving to an "every other year" model for the conference. We will see you for the next Discipleship Conference in 2027!
In 2026, we will be partnering with ACTS XXIX to offer formation opportunities to support our parish pastors and their teams of key staff and volunteers. Stay tuned for updates!
If you missed the conference or want to revisit the day, look for coverage of the event in the Sooner Catholicor on our website okdisciple.org, where we will be sharing highlights from this year's speakers in the coming months.
