Happy new school year! I am filled with excitement and gratitude to begin another year as principal at Mount St. Mary.
The Mount is a Catholic community that holds faith and education of the whole person in high regard, and I am eager to see the blessings that this year will bring. We are thrilled to welcome our new students and new staff members who will make our Rocket community even better.
Our Catholic identity is at the core of all we do, guiding our mission to serve our students and families with mercy, compassion and an exceptional Christ-centered education. Our 120-year heritage provides a firm foundation on which to help our students grow spiritually, intellectually and emotionally through every experience at The Mount.
Our theme for this year, GREATER, is based on 1 John 4:4, “Greater is the one who is in you than he who is living in the world.”
This reminds us that the Holy Spirit is a source of strength and guidance and is greater and more powerful than any adversity or hardship. This assurance provided all of us confidence in our spiritual journey as children of God.
We are guided by Mercy values, which call us to act with respect, treat others with dignity and care for those who are marginalized. In a world that often seems divided, we strive to be a beacon of hope and unity.
We encourage our Mount students to engage with their faith actively, participate in the sacraments and become thoughtful, compassionate leaders.
As we embark on this new school year, I ask for your prayers and assure you of ours. We turn to our beloved Catherine McAuley who reminds us “to resolve to be good today, but better tomorrow.”
Together, we will explore how our Catholic faith can inspire us to make a positive impact on the world around us. May this year be filled with discovery, joy and the grace of God. I look forward to a wonderful and blessed school year.
