The Center of Family Love announced the success of the annual Gift of Love Gala, where 1,000 individuals attended, raising $1.5 million for the Okarche-based organization committed to serving the intellectually disabled.
The black-tie event, held at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, provided the platform that launched a new direction and expansion for CFL. Founded in 1981, the center has been providing lifelong care and career opportunities for adults conquering disabilities, free of charge to every resident. The funds raised will benefit the continued dedication to those served.
The gala was not just financially successful. The residents who live at CFL played a key role in the success of the evening, from greeting guests with warm smiles, to performing an energetic sock hop-style dance routine.
"The enthusiasm and participation of our residents made the evening so special," said Debbie Espinosa, president and CEO of CFL. “We are so excited for the many breakthroughs we have achieved throughout these 43 years, but we are not finished, not even close.
“Very soon, we will begin serving an additional 500 or more individuals each year with learning differences through our new state-of-the-art educational center near Oklahoma City. This impact will begin the ripple effect that will change the world for generations who are conquering disabilities.”
The funds raised from the Gift of Love Gala will be vital in advancing the Center of Family Love's next chapter. A significant portion of the proceeds will go toward their capital campaign for the new facility designed to host career opportunities with premier businesses and provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities. This new chapter will further their commitment to enhancing the lives of their residents by offering programs and services that promote independence, community integration and personal growth.
