Cristo Rey OKC Catholic High School celebrated two major achievements following the South Chamber Awards on April 4.
Lauren Schwartz was named Teacher of the Year, recognizing her commitment to student growth and success. Senior student Steven Luna was awarded a $5,000 Walmart Scholarship, honoring his academic excellence, leadership and perseverance.
“We are incredibly proud of both Lauren and Steven for their accomplishments,” said school President and CEO Deby Snodgrass. “Their dedication and perseverance embody the spirit of Cristo Rey, and we are thrilled to see them recognized.”
Schwartz, at Cristo Rey OKC since 2021, has been instrumental in helping students excel in and out of the classroom. Known for her engaging teaching style and deep investment in her students' futures, many say she has made a lasting impact on the school community.
Luna has balanced college-preparatory coursework with his participation in Cristo Rey’s Corporate Work Study Program, where students gain real-world job experience. His dedication to academic and professional growth, as well as his leadership among peers, were major factors in the prestigious Walmart Scholarship.
