Brother George Hubl, O.S.B. celebrated his Silver Jubilee as a Monk at Mass and a reception on Aug. 3 at St. Gregory's Abbey in Shawnee.
Brother George made his simple profession of vows on Aug. 6, 1999, his solemn profession on Aug. 6, 2002, and his Silver Jubilee on Aug. 6.
"For 25 years, Brother George has given himself fully to the praise of God in the Divine Liturgy, to the service of others in a variety of work assignments, and to the love of others through fraternal life,” Abbot Lawrence Stasyszen, O.S.B. said.
“As a college student, Brother George wanted to be of support to Saint Gregory’s Abbey and so became an oblate of the community. As he prayed daily for vocations to the monastery, he realized that he needed to consider whether he himself might be called to become a monk.”
So decided, he entered the community and professed vows Aug. 6, 1999.
During the recent Mass, Br. George renewed his vows and also gave a special reflection. In attendance were his parents David and Elizabeth Hubl of Norman, his brothers Aaron, Anton and Albert, Fr. Joseph Irwin of his home parish of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norman, the monastic community of St. Gregory's Abbey, oblates of St. Gregory's Abbey and many other friends and family members.
