The Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine announced the launch of the Bountiful Blessings Backpack Program, an initiative, along with corporate partner Paycom, aimed at supporting elementary school children in the community.
The program offers children the opportunity to receive a free backpack filled with essential school supplies to begin their school year. This initiative is part of the ongoing commitment to support education and reduce the financial burden on families during the back-to-school season.
“I have wanted to have a program like this since I started," said Christi Jeffreys, director of development at the shrine. “The Bountiful Blessings Backpack Program is our way of ensuring that no child in our community lacks the necessary supplies for a productive and successful school year in the same way that Blessed Stanley provided for the Tz’utujil children of Guatemala.”
Distribution took place Aug. 2 at the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine. Several schools, including Sacred Heart Catholic School, took elementary school children to receive their free backpacks along with school supplies.
“We are grateful for the support of Paycom, volunteers and Sox of Love who helped make this program possible,” Jeffreys said. “Together, we are making a difference in the lives of our children and shaping the future of our community.”
A Paycom representative said: “What a fantastic initiative! We're thrilled to have supported this event and to see the positive impact on our community. Wishing everyone a great back-to-school season.”
