While this is a secular observance, caring for our mental health is certainly an integral element in living our Catholic faith. During the COVID pandemic, Matt Mollman noticed something unsettling at his parish. Even among weekly Mass goers, many didn’t know one another well enough to recognize when someone was missing or struggling.
For the senior class, there are many good things about The Mount and many influential people in their lives. Over the last four years, the class has grown closer together and grown closer to God as a result of their time together and their faith-based education.
As graduation approaches, Cristo Rey OKC Catholic High School seniors are experiencing some of the school’s most meaningful traditions. Moments that celebrate not only academic success, but also faith, leadership and the strong community that has supported them along the way.
When it comes to our Church’s history, we Catholics tend to zero in quickly on canonized saints and those we hope will be canonized. This is understandable, given the importance our faith places on special exemplars of holiness and the supernatural virtues.
The Knights of Columbus family bingo will be at 6:30 p.m. May 28 at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 4201 S. McKinley in Oklahoma City. Play all games for $10. There will be door prizes furnished by the Knights and reasonably priced food served at 5:45 p.m. All players receive a raffle ticket for a 55-inch LED TV to be given away at the October bingo (must be present to win). The annual St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery Memorial Day Mass will be at 10 a.m. on May 25. A potluck meal will be after Mass at the cemetery pavilion, N.W. 234 St. (Sorghum Mill Rd.) between N. Council Rd. and N. County Line Rd. in rural Edmond. Take a lawn chair and a food dish to share.
A Mass to celebrate the consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus will be at 6 p.m. on June 3 at the Bl. Stanley Rother Shrine, 700 S.E. 89 in Oklahoma City. Nationally, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 11 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
