As Catholics, the spiritual pillars of prayer, fasting and almsgiving guide people in daily reflection during the 40 days of Lent. Lent is an opportunity for people to reflect on their lives as they strive to deepen their relationship with God and neighbor — no matter where in the world that neighbor may live. Lent is a time of personal and spiritual growth, a time to look outward and inward. One simple way to enhance the Lenten practice is to participate in the CRS Rice Bowl program. During Lent, Catholics and families across the United States use a Rice Bowl — a small cardboard box—to pray, fast and collect alms in support of their people living in poverty around the world. Each Rice Bowl comes with a calendar that guides families through the 40 days of Lent with activities and reflections connected to our global family. Go to crsricebowl.org for information, prayers, stories and activities to enhance the Lenten practice. To order Rice Bowls: crsricebowl.org/resources/order-crs-rice-bowl-materials or 1 (800) 222-0025. Materials are available in English and Spanish.

We have begun our Lenten journey toward Easter. Since it’s a spiritual journey – a journey of faith – the destination is not a physical one. We won’t notice a change in geography or location when we arrive, but the journey is no less real. If we persevere in the journey, we will move from an old way of relating to God to a renewed one.

Each year, Catholics across the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City join to support the ministries that keep the Church present where it is needed most. Your generosity makes a difference in parishes large and small, in classrooms and campus centers, and in lives changed every day.
People see them every Lent: small cardboard boxes sitting in parish entryways, waiting to be taken home, filled one coin at a time, and brought back at the end of the season.
by Brett Farley, Catholic Conference of Oklahoma executive director
Now that 2026 is well underway, we are taking stock of key accomplishments for the Church in Oklahoma over the past year. Of the thousands of bills introduced each year in the state legislature, only a small fraction receive the governor’s signature. In 2025, three of those bills originated with the Catholic Conference of Oklahoma.
Born in Pinar del Río, Cuba, Ignacio Ruíz Páez and his family suffered the persecution of a totalitarian communist/socialist regime. The reason behind such oppression: his faith, as a Catholic leader and teacher in Catholic institutions.
Supporting Catholic immigrants who suffered from discrimination based on their religion was the starting point for the creation of the Knights of Columbus, a group originally established by Blessed Michael McGivney in 1882.

Hundreds of students in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City will receive tuition assistance next school year thanks to the generosity of donors to the Catholic Schools Opportunity Fund in 2025.
What began as one robotics team at Mount Saint Mary in 2009 has grown into a large four-team department. The need for growth has clearly been established.
