Dear friends of Catholic Charities,
Our mission is guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ, which call us to love, serve, and support one another. In Matthew 25:35-36, Jesus says, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.”
Caritas is the Latin term for charity, one of three theological virtues. Combined with casitas, the Spanish word for small house, Catholic Charities fittingly describes its latest effort to provide housing for those who need it most: Caritas Casitas.

There were a million new faces with names I’d never heard of before, teachers I hoped I’d like (or at least, hoped they liked me), and more things going wrong than I could have ever dreamed of. Even with only four classes during the day, I managed to end up in the wrong one at least seven times.
The new school year may be underway and charging forward, but Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School can reflect on the 2023-24 year with a final note of accomplishment.
“I Can Pray Anywhere” presents the reader with a simple but, very important lesson, and that is, we can pray any moment of the day and for any situation.
Amidst a presidential campaign in which many of our countrymen deplore the choices we face in November, let’s take a break, follow the counsel of Ecclesiastes 3:1 (“For everything there is a season …”), and turn our attention to a question of major – even transcendental – import: Are we in the Golden Age of Baseball? Or was that the 1920s-1930s? Perhaps the 1950s-1960s?
When we celebrate the Eucharist, every element is important. The Church’s liturgy is the result of centuries of development, enabling us to worship the Father in Spirit and in truth by drawing us into Jesus’ own perfect sacrifice on the cross.
